Wine Tasting @ SLOVENIAN EMBASSY
The Slovenian Embassy and the Friends of Dupont Circle Village invite you to sample some of Europe’s most creative wines, crafted by two young, entrepreneurial Slovenian women winemakers. Join other neighbors in support of Dupont Circle Village—a neighbor-helping-neighbor, nonprofit organization of middle-aged and older people who help keep our neighborhood healthy, diverse and thriving for all ages. Proceeds will go right back to our neighborhood by benefitting Dupont Circle Village.
Why should you be a Friend of Dupont Circle Village? By supporting the Village, you will help strengthen our neighborhood and community. School children benefit when older people visit schools and read to them; older people benefit when Millennials teach them computer skills, recovering patients benefit from meals prepared by older people, high school students get credit by volunteering for Dupont Circle Village and lending a helping hand to those who need it. We all benefit by keeping our community vibrant and welcoming to people of all ages and where neighbors help neighbors and thus make a difference in each other’s lives. |
Whether or not you can join us at the Slovenian Embassy Tuesday, October 25th from 7 to 10pm, we ask you to become a Friend of Dupont Circle Village and make a small but powerful investment to keep our neighborhood an enriching space for everyone. Help us make a big difference in the lives of the people who are your neighbors and a foundation of this community.
Sample some of Europe’s most creative wines, crafted by two young, entrepreneurial Slovenian women winemakers. Slovenia, nestled between Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia, is known for it’s soaring mountains, glacial lakes, hot springs, ski resorts and medieval castles. TICKETS AND DONATIONS
Dupont circle village
Dupont Circle Village is a diverse and vibrant nonprofit organization of middle-aged and older neighbors supporting each other as they age and who want to continue living in and contributing to their community. Aging, at its best, is a shared journey, not a solo isolated one. Members seek to live active, productive, giving lives in the community. They care for one another and give back to the community by shopping locally, volunteering at local organizations, such as Charlie’s Place and N Street Village, and support the local schools, play grounds and parks.
What We Do
Dupont Circle Village provides vital support for neighbors in need of a helping hand—a ride to medical appointments, assistance running routine errands and many other tasks which aging neighbors find difficult to do on their own. Dupont Circle Village hosts social and cultural events to engage neighbors, and reduce social isolation. Social engagement is a critical, but often overlooked, component in enhancing the health and well-being of older people and improving their quality of life. Many older neighbors turn to Dupont Circle Village, rather than relying on DC government assistance—a win-win for everyone when public funds are conserved and fewer tax dollars spent. |
